Miraflores Malecón Sunset View: sunrise and sunset photography forecast

The Miraflores cliffs face straight into the Pacific, with paragliders, surf and the Costa Verde road adding layers below. Lima’s coastal cloud can flatten the sun, but the colour often survives as a thin band near the horizon.

For photographers: shooting Miraflores Malecón Sunset View

Best months

December to April for the best chance of clear sunsets. May to November is frequently covered by the garúa marine layer.

Suggested focal lengths

24–70 mm for cliffs and ocean; 70–200 mm for paragliders, surf and distant headlands.

Composition

Use park paths, palms or the curve of the cliff as a lead-in. A telephoto is useful when the sunset is only a narrow clear strip under cloud.

Recommended arrival

Arrive 45–60 minutes before sunset and walk between Parque del Amor and the nearby cliff-top parks to match the light.

Access planning

Remain behind cliff barriers and watch bicycles on the Malecón paths. Sea mist is common even when it is not raining.

Parking: Street and commercial parking in Miraflores; walking, taxi or rideshare avoids evening traffic.

Approach: Immediate from the paved Malecón promenade.
